About us

The Healthy School Partnership was set up in September 1998. It is based in Kennington and aims to link Primary Healthcare practices with Lambeth’s primary schools.

The idea has been welcomed by the Department of Health who have funded a three year pilot study.

Who are we??

We are Jon Davies, Jo Kedge and Joanna Watson, three primary teachers whose aim is to create a project that helps teachers and fits into the school's curriculum. We don't want to create yet more paperwork.

Healthy School Partnership

The HSP is a local healthy schools programme. It is funded by Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham Health Authority and Standard Fund grants, to support the development of healthy schools, in line with National Healthy School Standard.

Christine McInnes, National Advisor: Healthy School Standard, manages the project and each borough has a Training and Development Worker:-

  • Lambeth - Clare Smith
  • Southwark - Geoff Collins
  • Lewisham - Mary Jo Hill

Three levels of support are offered to ensure schools become a 'healthy school'.

  • A policy-to-practice package to support for whole school development, focusing on one of the themes as outlined in the National Healthy School Standard. This package is currently on offer to 25 schools per borough.
  • School focused training for all sections of the school community, e.g. consultation on policy and curriculum development, parent workshops and strategies for involving pupils in the planning and implementation of the curriculum.
  • Centrally organised training for staff and governors.
