What do you do?
I help make sure that the patients are looked after properly by the staff at the GP practice. I want the patient to be able to see the doctors with as little fuss as possible.
What is your background?
I was born in Balham and went to local primary and secondary schools.
How did you become a Patient Services Manager?
I went to college in Carshaltan and did Business Studies. My first job was with a book publisher then I started in the wages department of St. Mary's hospital and worked my way up.
What qualifications do you need and how long does it take?
GCSE's are very useful but you also need a qualification in management that can take up to three years. You can do this while you work.
What is the most difficult thing about the job?
All the changes you have to sort out and communicating with everyone to let them know what's happening.
What is the best thing about the job?
I like working in the Health Service. Every day is different.
